What is the Nexus Score?

Nexus Care is the first biometric recovery system embedded in luxury hotels. At the centre of every session is the Nexus Score — a 0–100 composite index that tells your Certified Nexus Practitioner exactly how to structure your recovery protocol before you step inside the Nexus Wellness Chamber.

It is not a wellness survey. It is not a subjective readiness question. It is a computed physiological state, measured before every session and re-measured after.

What goes into the score?

The Nexus Score is derived from four established neurophysiological biomarkers:

  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV) — the primary marker. HRV measures beat-to-beat variation in your heart rhythm, which reflects how effectively your autonomic nervous system is regulating your body. High HRV correlates with recovery capacity, cognitive flexibility, and parasympathetic dominance. Low HRV signals accumulated physiological or psychological load.
  • Autonomic Nervous System state (ANS) — the balance between your sympathetic (stress-response) and parasympathetic (recovery) branches. The ANS state shapes how aggressively the protocol applies thermal or hydrotherapy load.
  • Sleep Architecture — when integrated with wearable data, the system incorporates prior-night sleep quality: total duration, REM ratio, and deep-sleep ratio. Sleep is the primary physiological recovery window; its quality directly modulates recovery readiness the next day.
  • Resting Heart Rate (RHR) — a secondary marker used to contextualise HRV readings against your personal baseline. An elevated RHR relative to your norm is a consistent early signal of increased physiological load.

The seven readiness bands

Your biomarker values are normalised, weighted, and mapped across seven readiness bands:

BandRangePhysiological state
Deep Deficit0–14Significant autonomic dysregulation
Deficit15–28Elevated load, compromised recovery
Low29–42Below-baseline readiness
Baseline43–57Neutral autonomic state
Good58–71Above-baseline recovery capacity
High72–85Strong parasympathetic dominance
Peak Recovery86–100Optimal physiological readiness

Each band maps to a specific protocol intensity. A guest scoring in Deep Deficit receives a gentle, restorative protocol — lower sauna temperatures, longer parasympathetic activation phases, minimal hydrotherapy load. A guest at Peak Recovery receives a higher-intensity protocol designed to extend and consolidate an already recovered state.

Why not just use HRV alone?

HRV is the strongest single predictor of recovery status, but it is not the whole picture.

A guest may have a high HRV reading but have had fragmented sleep with minimal deep-sleep stages — a pattern that often precedes a drop in performance. Another guest may show a moderately suppressed HRV but an elevated baseline RHR, which sharpens the risk signal. The Nexus Score weighs these inputs together, producing a more stable and actionable index than any single biomarker in isolation.

The score delta: proof of recovery

The Nexus Score is measured twice — before the session and after. The difference between entry and exit score is your delta: a quantified indicator of the acute physiological response to your protocol.

Recovery is not something you feel. It is something you measure.

A positive delta — an exit score higher than the entry score — means the protocol produced a measurable parasympathetic shift within the session window. That shift is recorded to your guest profile, building a longitudinal picture of your recovery response across visits.

This is what separates Nexus Care from a spa. A spa gives you a pleasant experience. Nexus Care gives you a number — and that number is repeatable, trackable, and yours.
